Notes and Updates for March 5, 2013

  • The Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Premier card is currently offering 50,000 Rapid Rewards points after spending $2,000 within three months.  This is a great deal: those 50,000 points are worth up to 1.66 cents each (when used for “Wanna Get Away” fares), which works out to about $833.
  • Until March 14th, the American Express Business Gold Rewards card is being offered with a signup bonus of 75,000 points if you spend $10,000 within four months.  That’s a lot of points, but it’s also a high minimum spend requirement.  The card earns 3 points per dollar on airfare, two points per dollar on gas, advertising, and shipping, and 1 point per dollar on all other purchases.  Its steep $175 annual fee is waived for the first year.  Please note, however, that this is a business card, which means that it is intended for small business owners and for business/commercial use.
